Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, has partnered the Zinox Computers to procure Digital Computers on subsidized rate for academic staff of the School to enhance efficiency, teaching and learning.
The Rector of the School, Engr. Dr Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in his Office shortly after the School had audience with Chief Executive Officer of Zinox Computers, Chief Leo Stan Ekeh, recently, at the 1000 Capacity Auditorium Building on the Campus.
Arimanwa who explained that the Smart Campus Initiative is beneficial to academic staff of the Institution, said such is targeted to eliminate all forms of manual applications to bring about digital ICT to make their work faster, hinting that crime among staff would reduce.
According to him, “the digital computers is more beneficial and efficient and will eliminate possibility of bribery and extortion among staff. We are eventually training every staff, but for now we are focusing on academic staff. We also have training for nonacademic staff to effectively digitalise the School with more viable ICT. We attracted Zinox Computers because its CEO has been a good and trusted partner to the School who made a wonderful mark by given away the computers at a low rate of #60,000. Willing staff can pay installmentally for 3months and we appreciate the feat.
Registrar of the School, Mrs Eucharia Chidinma Anuna, while hailing the initiative, affirmed that the Laptop Computers to the lecturers is germane to enhancing capacity: marking and forwarding students’ results and other academic records without much ado, building comprehensive roster.
Anuna noted that the Smart Campus Initiative has been launched long ago and will be sustained so that efficiency and proficiency would be entrenched on the campus which she reiterated is known for academic and moral excellence.
Zinox Computers Chief Executive Officer, Chief Leo Stan Ekeh, who spoke to journalists after the meeting with the School, informed that Zinox Computers has approved to give away the computers to the School at a reduced amount and urged the School to keep the tempore as ICT would bring about sanity and cordiality among staff and students while making their work easy and faster.
